When my business partner started our first company, “we were men in business – not businessmen” We didn’t have all the answers and struggled. We didn’t fully understand streamlined processes, finances, branding, turning inventory, marketing or refined sales techniques (after all, we were Environmental Scientists). But through relentless learning, mentorship, and hands-on experience, I began to learn the expertise I now love to share with others.
Then in 2000, I started my own company and in 13 months, our revenue went from $0 to $1Million. I eventually sold then worked with a company to launch their East Coast division managing a team covering 22 states. Revenues were $2MM in Year 1 and $9MM in year 2. That was my real start understanding wholistic business. I became a fanatic reader, learned how to manage a team and a large territory.
I was approached by a company to help them grow and we turned $11K per month to an additional $40K. That really gave me the business bug. After that I held positions such as interim managers, VPs, president and did two mergers/acquisitions
